Peatland Water Levels

Partners: Shropshire Wildlife Trust & Kisters

Aims: To support Peat restoration and improve flood management in the River Perry catchment area through improved understanding of ground water levels.

What plan to do: Deploy a series of wireless sensors along the river basin for groundwater monitoring, measuring atmospheric pressure and water levels.  This information will compliment data on daily flows and seasonal trends within the River Perry catchment, and adjoining catchments. This will increase knowledge of peat deposits and provides vital understanding for Peat restoration.

What do we hope to achieve: Generate a vital source of data for the Perry & Peatland project to support the formation of a Shropshire Peat Partnership. Plus, it is an important project in contributing to making the Severn a more diverse, vibrant and resilient river catchment.
