The Three Counties Showground is a 90-acre site near Malvern and is one of the region’s premier agricultural showgrounds catering for events that see 1,000 Trade stands & 30,000 visitors on site per event.
The RSPAWIR funded LoRaWAN connectivity connecting a series of distributed weather monitoring sensors that can detect wind and lightening risk across the site enabling rapid mitigation response.
It also serves multiple legionella detectors within the site’s numerous and widely disbursed toilet facilities, a sensor to detect the pH levels of water used to refresh the site following major events and an air quality sensor.
The data generated by these sensors was integrated into a universal dashboard for easy monitoring. The project has improved health and safety, saved operational time and is delivering significant cost savings by replacing the need for manual testing.
The LoRaWAN network also now serves a series of Air Quality sensors along the Malvern Hills, installed as a trial with Natural England.
